The 47th Annual Historic Home Tour: Sunday, September 17!

Do you have your tickets yet?

For the first time, the Preservation Sacramento Historic Home Tour will travel to East Sacramento. On Sunday, September 17, 2023, from 10 am to 4 pm, the owners of four homes on East Sacramento’s 38th and 40th Streets will welcome the public with in-depth tours of these grand historic homes.

Docents will guide visitors and tell the story of each house, including its construction and design, and the stories of its owners and inhabitants.

Highlights!

  • The Longton House: The 38th Street home of Gregg & Sally Lukenbill, former co-owners of the Kings - a fascinating home on its own, and also chock-full of memorabilia.

  • The Noack House: The stunning and well-preserved 40th Street Craftsman home of Ellen Mallory.

  • The Scholefield House: A rare surviving East Sacramento duplex, the home of Richard Saxton and William Nilva

  • The Miller House: Current home of Marny and Rick Wasserman, this is a fantastic example of the Prairie School.

  • NEW THIS YEAR: Guided walking tours of the neighborhood: Sign up at the information booth at 38th & J Street (included in your ticket).

Fans of historic architecture, home improvement, and local history will enjoy visiting these beautifully restored historic homes. Originally intended to showcase the potential of Sacramento’s central city for revitalization through preservation, today’s tours celebrate the protection and restoration of historic homes, and connect contemporary interest in walkability and urban living with our city’s heritage.
